Today’s blog is a bit of a wanderer, because that’s exactly what we did.
Since it was the weekend, we bundled the family into the car and just drove — no destination, no plan, just wherever the wind took us. We stopped for lunch along the way. My daughter stayed in the car (she doesn’t eat), so it was me and the kids sitting down for a bite. Lovely all the same. Ice creams followed, obviously — that’s non-negotiable.
Next up was the search for somewhere quiet to walk. With my daughter’s feeding tube, we needed somewhere without too many people around. So we drove along the coast, checking spots as we went. The first place was too crowded, so we kept going. The second place looked promising, until I got the car bogged. We gave up on that one and headed to somewhere we’d been before — but then, for some reason, went back to the boggy spot. My poor grandson fell straight into the mud the second he got out. Not the smoothest moment of the day.
We pushed on a little further after that, and it was worth it. We found a set of beautiful stairs leading down to a wild, untouched ocean beach — dramatic cliffs, crashing waves, the whole dangerous-and-beautiful package.
All in all, a really lovely day. Mission accomplished too: the kids off the internet, out of the house, and into the actual world for a while.
