Today I had a little sleep-in. Maybe that’s just part of getting older.
I wandered through the hardware store and a few other shops, picking up bits and pieces, but nothing much. I’ve reached the point where I’m tired of consumerism. I have everything I need. I don’t need more stuff.
Later, I spent time with the kids. We picked fresh produce from the garden and made a magnificent salad. Then we all went for a long walk together. It was magnificent. We all needed it more than we realised. Along the way we collected sticks for a fire, just enjoying being outside together.
Now I’m home, getting organised for another week at work.
Days like today remind me that a good life isn’t built on buying more. It’s built on simple things: fresh food, family, nature, movement, and coming home with a full heart instead of a full shopping bag.
